All About Me:
Hi! My name is Tori and I am currently a rising sophomore at High Point University. This summer I took it upon myself to work, live, and breathe New York City. Every summer my family go up to our lake house, however, this summer is going to be different.
Last summer I spoke to a family friend who works for a construction company in New York City and inquired if I would be able to intern there. With no hesitation he told me that I would be guaranteed a job! And so the process began. Even though I was guaranteed a job I didn't have all the logistics. It was too early for that, but if I wanted to make sure I would be in the city this summer, I had to get started. First, I tackled my living situation. I had looked at studio apartments in a variety of areas, but in all actuality I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Anyways I spoke to my cousin, who lives and works in the city, to ask her where I should look for apartments. She told me that the NYU dorms rented their living quarters to college interns over the summer. I looked into that, sent in my application and received notice in late March that I will be living in the NYU dorms this summer. Now that I have a place to live actually getting the job was the next step. I interviewed over the phone and was asked to work in the Human Resources Department this summer. I was so excited, I mean come one who wouldn't be. I am 19 years old and will be living in NYC all summer! With all the last minute details setting into place I am ready to head to New York on Sunday.

MY BLOG: My blog will consist of my journey through NYC this summer on a budget of $10 a day. Working at my internship Monday through Friday and babysitting at least one night on the weekend will allow me to survive in New York all summer. My blog will be packed full of helpful ways for struggling young adults to survive in New York on a tight budget and my personal experiences I inquire everyday. This is an experience of a life time and I hope you all follow me on my journey.
